Each spring, the Branton Ramsey Legacy Foundation awards a $1000 scholarship to a local high school senior who will be attending Carl Albert State College in the fall. To qualify, students must enroll full-time and pursue a degree in computer science or participate in the CASC Esports Program. The scholarship helps remove financial barriers by offsetting education-related expenses. As a result, students receive meaningful financial support as they pursue their academic goals.
Branton's parents created the scholarship in 2022 to honor his deep connection to Carl Albert State College, where he earned his Associate of Arts degree in Computer Information Systems May 2017. Afterward, he transferred to Northeastern State University and earned his Bachelor of Science degree May 2019. He later returned to CASC as a Learning Technology Administrator, where he became a valued member of the CASC family. Through this scholarship, Branton's legacy continues to inspire and empower students as they pursue their educational goals.
In order to apply, students must complete the CASC Scholarship Application available on CASC's website. The priority deadline is March 1st. Following the deadline, the CASC Scholarship Committee reviews applications and selects a recipient at the March meeting each year.
A college education can open doors to opportunities that can change the course of a young person's life. But for many students, getting through that first door isn't always easy. Tuition, books, course materials, transportation and other college expenses can add up quickly, and sometimes, even a relatively small financial barrier can make pursuing a degree more difficult.
That's why this scholarship matters.
The $1,000 Branton “Buddy” Ramsey Memorial Scholarship may not cover the entire cost of a a year at CASC but its impact can reach far beyond the dollar amount. At Carl Albert State College, a standard 3-credit class costs approximately $420–$438 in tuition alone. That means a $1,000 scholarship can cover the tuition for approximately two 3-credit classes, with funds remaining to help with books, course materials or other educational expenses.
For a student beginning college, that can mean two classes they don't have to worry about paying for. It can mean a little less financial pressure and a little more freedom to focus on learning, building their future and pursuing the career they've dreamed about.
And sometimes, removing just one financial obstacle can help a student keep moving forward.
This scholarship is more than financial assistance. It is a message to a student that someone believes in their potential and believes their education is worth investing in.
Branton believed in pursuing your passions and the things that made you who you are. The scholarship created in his memory carries forward that same belief in the possibilities that education can create.
For the student who receives it, $1,000 can help make college a little more attainable, and their dreams a little closer.
Our goal is to grow this scholarship in the future so we can provide even greater support to students pursuing their education. That growth will only happen because of the people who choose to stand behind this mission.
The Branton “Buddy” Ramsey Memorial Scholarship would not be possible without the generosity of the people who support the Branton Ramsey Legacy Foundation, Brantstock – Music for a Grateful Heart, and our other fundraising efforts.
Every ticket purchased.
Every donation made.
Every business or individual who sponsors or supports an event.
Every person who shares our mission with someone else.
It all adds up to opportunity.
Since the first scholarship was awarded in 2023, supporters have helped provide more than $11,000 in scholarship support to students pursuing their education at Carl Albert State College.
That isn't something BRLF accomplishes alone. It belongs to everyone who has chosen to be part of the mission.
Because when a community comes together to invest in a student's education, the impact doesn't stop with one scholarship or one student. It can follow that student into a classroom, into a career and into the life they are working to build.
Your support helps make that possible.
And for a student with a dream, knowing that someone is willing to help them take the next step can make all the difference.
